Pedal Pubbin' through Savannah

Laurel, the bachelorette from this past weekend in Savannah, has been trying to convince me for a couple of years now that I needed to rent a pedal pub for my birthday. She hasn't been successful because the idea of pedaling around from one bar to the next in Charlotte on {more than likely} hot, humid night in July just does not sound appealing to me. At all.

Enter Bachelorette Weekend... where what the bachelorette wants, the bachelorette gets :)

We rented out a pedal pub for two hours Saturday evening through the company Savannah Slow Rides for a private tour from 6 until 8. Once we were loaded up & pedaling away, I completely understood why Laurel likes pedal pubs so much. Holy cow. It was awesome.

If you've never heard of a pedal pub, here's the skinny: it's a mobile pub with bike seats/pedals for each person participating. You have to pedal to power the pub from one bar to the next. Once you get to the bar, you have about 10-15 minutes to either get a drink, buy a shot, whatever, and then get back to the pedal pub to go to the next bar. Repeat that about 5 times.

It was so much fun.

The weather could not have been more perfect for this activity, either. It was in the 70s with a little bit of a wind... gorgeous weather for pedaling & drinking.

I had every intention of taking a picture of each bar that we went to, but like the rest of the weekend, pictures are a little hard to come by when you're on a mission to drink {and we were definitely on that mission!} When we got to each bar, we hurried inside, made a decision about what type of drink to order, and by the time you had your drink it was time to head back to the pedal pub. I don't know how all pedal pub companies are, but ours had great guides and a fun Bachelorette scavenger hunt to complete during the tour. At the end of the night, Laurel had crossed everything off the list... including starting a flash mob on the sidewalk for bonus points. And by "flash mob", I mean we got random strangers to do the cupid shuffle with us.

If you're going down to Savannah for a girls' weekend, I would highly suggest looking into renting a pedal pub for a couple of hours. We had such a good experience and I'm trying to find a way to do this again in Savannah!
