There is one sound that I will never, ever in my life forget.

The candles had been lit.

The mothers had been escorted by our brothers to their seats.

My Maid of Honor Liza had just given me one last wave and had walked through the doors into the sanctuary to take her place at the top of the aisle. My dad grinned at me across the narthex and my wedding planner stepped forward to shut the doors to the sanctuary.

The music {Canon in D} came to an end. My wedding planner and her assistant lifted up the door stops on the wooden doors and they swung shut. The sound of the door stops - the old, creaky, squeaky door stops - being lifted up and the doors swinging shut is one that I will never forget.

It was the sound that signified it was finally, finally, finally time for me to walk down the aisle to Patrick and to get married!

The doors swung open.

Y'all. I cheesed so hard walking down the aisle! I could see Patrick waiting for me. I could see the hundreds of people who gathered to celebrate our marriage. I could feel the tears coming so I just grinned from ear to ear instead and looked around at everyone who was there. I tried not to be annoyed at the slow {but correct} pace that my dad was walking.

He handed me off to Patrick.

Our pastor spoke some pretty fantastic words about us and about marriage and about kairos moments.

He reminded us to take a moment, look around, and be present in our day.

We said our vows.

Someone got a little teary eyed.

Someone made it through {surprisingly!} without crying.

We kissed.

We became Mr. & Mrs.!

& yes, I wiggled/moved/bounced throughout the entire ceremony.

I have a really, really bad habit of wiggling during church when we're standing up for something. I might rock back and forth on my toes. Or twist my body a little bit from side to side. I can't tell you the number of times that I've been told to be still during church {even now at 28 years old} by my grandmother/mother/Patrick.

That might have translated over to the wedding ceremony. I didn't even realize I had done any wiggling until every single person's first comment to me after the ceremony was about how much I wiggled. I asked Patrick about it and he was like "Yeah, why do you think I kept squeezing your hand?! I was trying to get you to be still!"

True love y'all, true love.
