It's All About the Food, Right?

The thing that I love about the Super Bowl is that everyone loves the Super Bowl. Everyone can find something about it that they enjoy... whether it's the game, the half time show, the food, the commercials, the parties, or whatever.

It's even better when you're team is playing in it for the second year in a row!
{Woo! Go Hawks!}

{via}

But for those of you who don't have a team playing, you might need something else to focus on this weekend. Like the food.

Need a quick & easy recipe to take with you to a Super Bowl party this weekend? Check some of these out!

{Black Bean & Corn Salsa}
I've been addicted to this recipe since the day I learned how to make it. It's so easy to adapt to your tastes. Like spicier? Add a spicy Rotel. Like cilantro a lot? Go crazy with it.

{Pigs in a Blanket}
These are a must for when you're watching football games at home. You just pop them in the oven for a few minutes and then hope they last longer than two minutes when you take them out. They're so delicious straight out of the oven!

{Hershey Symphony Bar Brownies}
I made these for the first time ever last year for a Super Bowl party and people fought over them. I guess that happens when you take them into a house full of people who love Hershey Symphony bars? Either way, it's a quick way to make a little bit fancier type of brownie.

{Sausage Dip}
Ah. Saved the best for last. If you've never had this dip before, you absolutely need to break out your crockpot this weekend and make it. Don't expect to have leftovers.

Hope everyone has a fun Super Bowl Sunday! Don't forget to cheer for Seattle :)

Wandering Around Davidson

Davidson, NC is one of my very favorite places to go walk around when it's a pretty day out.

Lindsey and I made the drive up to Davidson Sunday morning to go get brunch at Toast.

Have you ever been to Toast and not had to wait for a table? We put our name down and we were told it'd be a 10 minute wait. Two seconds later, they called out our name to seat us at our table. I don't know about you, but that's never happened to me. We were counting on 30-45 minutes to walk around first!

The table next to us totally busted us for playing with our cameras at the table and taking pictures of each other. Oops.

Lindsey's breakfast was prettier than mine. There's only so many times you can take pictures of a stack of pancakes with a side of bacon before it gets really, really old.

After we finished up at Toast, we headed outside to walk around a little bit and to play with our cameras. Davidson is always pretty, no matter what time of year you go.

A Southern Twenty-Five on Friday!

Have you taken advantage of Charlotte Restaurant Week yet? The only restaurant I end up going to each year is Chima {because hey, it's Chima} and this year's Chima night was last night. To say that I'm still full from last night is an understatement.

But it was sooo good and it was a belated half marathon celebration for Hannah and me. Totally worth it.

Linking up for another Five on Friday with April, Darci, Christina, and Natasha.

New picture frame + perfect picture to display in it

{two}
I'm unashamed of the number of times that I've seen this on my computer since January 1st. Yes, Netflix, still here. Still watching endless episodes.

I've watched old episodes of Friends since high school/college and always liked the show. It's an entirely different experience when you're able to watch them in order and keep up with the story line.

{three}
This is my new, unofficial motto. Conveniently enough, it's also my newest t-shirt thanks to one of my favorite people. She knows me well!

{four}
Normally, I'm all about the cold weather and the snow. Bring it on. The more, the better. But not this year. This year I am ready to be back out on the Greenway on my bike or sitting in a chair on the beach or boating around Lake Murray. I'd be perfectly content without any snow which is saying a lot... considering that I live next to a HUGE hill that would be perfect for sledding.

This girl is coming to visit this weekend! So excited!

The Words I Need

I'm a collector of quotes and verses.

I love them. You can bet that I have one for almost any situation, and yes, half of them probably come from Gilmore Girls or Gossip Girl or Harry Potter {don't judge!}

One Bible verse in particular was stuck in my head all last fall and I had a talented friend of mine put the words on paper in her beautiful calligraphy style. It arrived in the mail in the best, personalized packaging ever.

Found the perfect frame at Hobby Lobby {where else?} and hung it up in my bedroom.

It's one of the first things that I see every morning.

It's one of the last things that I see every night.

It's one thing that I like to be reminded of every single day.

Beautiful quote, gorgeous calligraphy, perfect frame, what more could you want?

A Charleston Saturday

Do you ever have one of those afternoons that you just don't want to end?

Patrick and I drove down to Charleston Saturday morning to do a little shopping, catch up with some friends, and attend a wedding later that evening.

We met up with our friends Jacob & Cameron for lunch at Southend Brewery {where our friends Laurel & Steven had their rehearsal dinner back in May}. Somehow, I managed to convince my brother to walk over from his apartment to hang out with us as well. We ate lunch, drank some beer, and then headed across the street to The Rooftop Bar to continue our day drinking.

There's nothing like sitting on top of a roof in the middle of downtown Charleston on an unseasonably warm afternoon with your friends.

We chatted. We judged each other for all wearing Ray-Bans. We drank some delicious beer. We made a beer can tower. We debated even going to the wedding that night at all.

I learned how to drink a new beer.

My brother and I even took a picture together!

Not just one, but TWO.

Looks like we can get along when we don't have an entire country between us.

It also looks like another Charleston weekend is going to have to happen sometime in the near future. Something tells me there's a weekend {or two??} in March that's going to be pretty awesome.

When the Beach is Empty

Have you ever been walking down the beach on a cold, windy winter day and come across something like this?

You don't see this that often when it's warm out because there are usually too many people out on the beach. But you get lucky during the winter when only a few people venture out. The beach is usually pretty empty...

Nobody in the water. No little kids building sand castles. No one flying a kite.

Back to the seagulls though.

They're just asking, begging really, for someone to come running after them.

I'm only too happy to oblige in those types of situations.

& if you find someone who will do the exact same ridiculous thing as you...

... it's kind of awesome.

Weekending

It was my mom's birthday last Thursday {yay! happy birthday!} so we hit the road on Friday to spend the weekend in Kiawah. It looked a little something like this...

A gorgeous, sunny day.

An early morning four mile run with a little herd of deer on the golf course.

Manicures for the birthday girls.

Obligatory nail photoshoot after the manicure.

Leftover hamburger with pimento cheese, a tomato, and an amaretto sour while watching Clemson basketball WIN a game!

A freezing cold walk on the beach.

One of these.

A photoshoot of all of the chefs in the kitchen preparing dinner {& the tulips}

Dinner.

A SEAHAWKS victory! Never realized how much trouble I could cause by cheering on the Seahawks when they're playing the Panthers but holy cow. Whatever. Go Hawks!

{via}

A morning spent watching all of the crazy little creatures in the lagoon behind the house {& reading up on them}

All in all, my kind of weekend.

The Two Person Brewery Bar Crawl, 2.0

Remember that time that Patrick & I participated in a two person, one brewery bar crawl?

It was time to do it again this past Friday, but with Laurel instead for an early birthday celebration. Bonus points because we actually made it to three breweries! Laurel gets all the credit for convincing me to finally learn how to drink beer and I'm glad that she did. There are a ton of breweries in Charlotte to explore.

Brewery #1: Olde Mecklenburg Brewery

Let's talk about how much I want to come back to this place when it is warmer. I was able to visit it last Christmas when my family was in town but I hadn't been back since. Since then, they have moved into a much larger space across the street that has a huge biergarten that will be perfect as soon as the weather warms up in the spring. Plenty of seating + multiple cornhole sets make for an excellent place to go drink on a pretty Saturday afternoon.

We grabbed a beer from the bar and ordered some food {because new space = full menu} and the food did not disappoint. I ordered a pizza with pepperoni and bacon that was delicious. The dough is made with whole grain wheat and OMB Copper. Um, yes.

Drink of choice: Southside Weiss

Brewery #2: Sugar Creek Brewing

Sugar Creek Brewing is a newer brewery in Charlotte and it's actually located in the old OMB location. It was a logical next stop since it was right across the street and because I hadn't been there before. We stopped in for one beer each {I had their witbier} before heading on to brewery #3.

I'm still trying to figure out the boxers painted on the outside of the building though...

Brewery #3: Sycamore Brewing

Sycamore is another new-ish brewery and one that I hadn't been to, so instead of going to one of my favorites {Unknown Brewing} for our third stop, we checked out Sycamore. This place had so many beer choices! I stuck with the wheat beer while we were there and it ended up being my favorite beer of the day between the three breweries.

---

If you're keeping count at home, I have now been to:
Unknown {Parts 1 & 2}
OMB {Part 1}
Triple C {Part 1}
NoDa Brewery
Sycamore
Sugar Creek

& still need to go to:
Bird Song
Heist
District 9

Looks like I need to schedule another two person brewery bar crawl sometime soon! Any takers?
