2016: Running Goals

& I'm back again with more resolutions for 2016. This time, let's chat about running because let's be honest, it still isn't my favorite thing in the world. I've thoroughly enjoyed a solid month of not running but it might be time to change that.

{one}
Keep running.

{see? I didn't completely hate running the Kiawah Half. There were parts that I could smile through!}

My last run of 2015 was a hot, sweaty, miserable Kiawah Half Marathon and the motivation to continue running is at an all time low. It's hard to remember that sometimes I actually kind of like running when all I can think about is how much I thoroughly disliked it a few weeks ago. So goal # 1 is to keep running and not give it up.

{two}
Participate in 1 race a month.

What better way to keep running than to sign up for a bunch of races? However, I'm going to change things up a little this year: when it's too hot for me to be running, I want to volunteer at a race instead. That means that during the months of May, June, July, and August, I'll be going for the volunteer route over the running route which sounds perfect to me! Let someone else run in the insane 95 degree heat & humidity. I'll be the one handing out the water!

{three}
Get involved in a running group.

Option 1: sign up for a half marathon training group. I LOVED the group that I trained with last winter/spring and hey, if I feel like I can run a half at the end of it, they're all training for one in May in Columbia.

Option 2: start going to the local running store's track night at the high school. Part of me wants to do this just because I'm super curious what they do at "track night".

{four}
Set another PR.

There is no greater feeling than beating your previous best run. Plus, the longer that I've been running, the faster that I've gotten. Here's what I'm aiming for:

5K - 28:30 {or under}
10K - 59:00 {or under}
Half Marathon - 2:10:00 {or under}

---

13 days in, I've made... zero progress on any of these goals. I am still 100% rocking this post-half marathon running break and even though we're halfway through January I haven't signed up for any races yet. Guess I better get started on that?
