The New Brewery on the Block

My mom asked me one morning what I was doing after work that day. I told her I was going to the gym. She said "oh, what if we went to that place you like to go and get a drink. River Rat?"

... I mean, it doesn't take much to convince me to go to River Rat Brewery after work rather than go to the gym. We ended up having an absolute blast and did a little mini Columbia brewery tour.

It also now doesn't take much effort to convince my mom to go to a brewery with me. We had so much fun together at River Rat {& Conquest!} the other week that when I mentioned going to the newest brewery {Twisted Spur Brewing on Gervais} the next night, she was immediately on board. And when I asked her to go a second time less than a week later? No hesitation - she was on board again!

Our first trip to Twisted Spur was with my fiancé and with my dad and we basically ordered all of the things... essentially the entire menu because all of the food items looked too good to pass up. I might be slightly exaggerating here, but not by much. Promise.

Appetizers:
Chips & Salsa

Fried Calamari

Oysters

Dinner:
20 Wings {10 Carolina Reaper & 10 Sirracha, not pictured}

Summer Spinach Salad

Twisted & Dipped Sandwich

Beer Battered Chicken Fingers & Fries

Beers:
Twisted IPA {Patrick & my dad}
Southern Belle Blonde {my mom & I}
Hefeweizen {my mom & I}

Everything we got, we would all get again. The chicken fingers were battered in the Southern Belle Blonde beer which was fantastic! I'm not a wing person but I was told that both the Carolina Reaper/Sirracha wings were awesome... just extremely hot. So be careful if you get those.

The two lighter beers that I had {Southern Belle Blonde & the Hefeweizen} were great. They were both light and easy to drink which is perfect for summertime in Columbia.

On our second trip, my mom and I went with one of my good high school friends and her mom. We went right after work which meant that we were able to take advantage of their $2 off draft happy hour specials. Winning!

Also, do yourself a favor: get the beer mac & cheese. Delicious.

... and you know what? I ended up BACK here again! Patrick and I swung by on a Friday afternoon to grab a quick post-work drink. We both stuck with our favorites {the blonde & the IPA} and decided that the happy hour specials make this a place worth coming to more often for a quick drink after work. I mean... $2.55 for a craft beer? Sold.

If you haven't been to Twisted Spur yet, you should make plans to go soon {& invite me}! The Vista was in need of a place like this. Great food, great beer, great atmosphere.
