The Weekend of Everything + a One Year Anniversary

Sometimes, I just want to do all of the things. All of them. And I try to pack them all into one weekend.
This weekend was definitely one of those types of weekends!

In case you missed it, Patrick & I closed on our very first home this past Friday. The house hunting process was entirely too long and too emotional and I am so glad to have our home now! We spent Friday evening doing a lot of cleaning, a little bit of dancing around the living room with the swiffer, and taking our first visitors on a tour of the house.

One might think that buying a house is a pretty big deal and that you should put a halt on life for more than a quick second to celebrate the new house/move into it. But...
I had a 5K to run so I was up bright and early Saturday morning to head downtown for the newly revamped Governor's Cup. This is a race that I had run when it was in the 8K format but they decided to switch things up a bit between 2014 & 2016. The race weekend now includes the Main Street Mile on Friday night {so disappointed to have missed it this year}, a 5K, and a half marathon.

Race season is now officially complete for me. I ran through five 5Ks this spring and now that it's much warmer out, it's time to hang up the running shoes until the fall when it's only 85 degrees in the evening rather than 95 degrees.
But guess what season it is now?
Wedding season!
Patrick and I headed up to Chattooga Belle Farms {along the border of SC/GA, near Clemson} to see one of my good college friends {Haley} get married. We made a pit stop along the way in Clemson to have lunch with Patrick's younger brother at the iconic Esso.

Does it get much better than a sunny, warm afternoon in Clemson? Nope.

We left Clemson though and headed off to the wedding. The venue was stunning, but the bride was even more beautiful. It was good to see and catch up with some of our friends, especially this Maid of Honor!

On our way back to Columbia, we stopped in Greenville for a quick early morning brunch with my bridesmaid Ashley & her husband. It was absolutely delicious.

Afterwards, we decided to walk off the massive brunch and explore a little bit of Main Street and the Artisphere festival that was going on. We checked out Falls Park, too.

{is anyone else exhausted just reading this post?!}
And then it was back home {because we have one of those now!} to make a list of all of the things that we needed to pick up at Lowes. And then go to Lowes. And Walmart. And start prepping things for painting.

Whew.

If anything, this weekend reaffirms one thing to me: my life is 110% in South Carolina. My fiancé is here. My family is here. My friends are here. The majority of the things that I like to do are here. Everything that I need in my life is basically here.

... which is a nice reminder to have exactly one year to the day after I left Charlotte to move back home to Columbia. I cannot believe that it has been an entire year - it has absolutely flown by! I still miss Charlotte & all of my friends there, but I am so happy that I made the decision to come back home.
Best. Decision. Ever.
Happy Monday, y'all!

  2. Yay on the new house! Were you nervous signing all of the paperwork? We finished building our house last June and I was so nervous when signing all of that paperwork! Especially when they talked money haha! I can't wait to see how you make your house a home! And I never run races in the summer--way too hot! I might if they started the races at 7 AM but started at 8 AM when it's already 90 degrees....no thank you!

  7. Congrats on such an awesome and busy weekend! I can't wait to see more pictures of your house. I totally hear you on the summer running thing... June-August is a horrific time for running in Atlanta. I run at like 5am and it is still hot and humid. ~Hannah (www.HannahAtHomeBlog.com)
