Three Weeks to Run

Here we go!

Three weekends, three races, three 5Ks.

Y'all, I know that I run on a pretty regular basis and that this schedule is actually much easier than the average half marathon training schedule, but I usually don't do things like this. However, it is prime running season around here and there are quite a few races that caught my attention.

First up: St. Pat's Get to the Green 5K on 3/19/16

You may have heard of Columbia's St. Patty's Day Festival down in Five Points, but you probably didn't know that they did a 5K/10K in the morning before it. I know I didn't! This is my first year running in it & I've opted to stick with the 5K. It looks like a fairly easy course but I'm willing to bet that there will be a few 10K people who finish ahead of me!

My last St. Patty's Day run was at the White Water Center in Charlotte & it ended up being a color run. I'm pretty certain that I won't come out of this one dyed green!

Second race: Columbia YMCA Bunny Hop 5K on 3/26/16

I did this race last year & I scored a PR in it {that I've since broken twice}. It was one of my worst race experiences thanks to a too-fast-for-me start, a downpour, and cramps. I'm hoping to a) beat my time from last year & b) have better running experience.

Last race: Charlotte Brain Tumor 5K Race on 4/2/16

Things get a little personal with this race. A seven year old friend of my family was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare glioneuronal tumor that has spread along his spine and into his lower brain. So we're running for him in the Brain Tumor Research Foundation's race with him and with his family.

Three races in three weeks? Let's do this thing!
