Weekending in the Capitol City

Ok, I'll admit it.

I'm really starting to like weekends at home.

When I can be seated outside of one of my favorite restaurants with my fiancé and with a beer in hand by 6pm? Sold. Give me more weekends that start off just like that. Especially when it's been tax season for over a month and a half and I barely saw my fiancé for the entire month of February.

More weekends that start off just like that, please. Or the end of tax season. Either one will work for me!

A few of our friends joined us for dinner at Hunter Gatherer where I had my absolute favorite dish there: the NY Strip. They make one heck of a NY Strip served with mashed potatoes & garlic green beans. Yum.

{PS - how cool is the inside of this restaurant? This is half the reason I like going here}

Saturday morning was spent how I spend almost every single Saturday morning in town: a trip to the gym and then a stroll along Main Street downtown.

Main Street was a little bit different this week. The Columbia Run Hard Marathon was going on. I missed the majority of it {since I showed up over 3 hours after race start} so I missed the 5K finishers and most of the half finishers. But I did get to see a few full marathoners come running down Main Street, straight through Soda City Market.

Yup.

The last few blocks of the race went right through the market. Sign. Me. Up.

I want to run this race next year for sure! How cool of a finish is that? Run through the market {where everyone is cheering you on} to the State House steps. I love it. I've also got a serious running bug right now and I'm signing up for three races three weeks in a row. Bring it on!

I also picked up this sweet hat while I was at the market.

45 days until opening day!

Sunday morning was all about early church and going to get brunch {aka lots of pancakes for me!} We tried out a new-to-me brunch spot in Columbia called Eggs Up Grill.

It was pretty good and they loaded up my pancakes with powdered sugar... which means I'll definitely be back.

We spent the rest of the morning driving around different neighborhoods looking for houses to go check out in our Great House Hunt and then ended up at River Rat Brewery Sunday afternoon. It was 65 degrees, sunny, and only a slight breeze. Perfect weather for sitting in the backyard of the brewery and enjoying a Broad River Red {or two!}

Lots of low key, outdoor, local time. That's my kind of weekend, y'all. It was good & relaxing which is exactly what we needed before a busy weekend & busy upcoming weekend.

Happy Monday!
