Weekending All Over the Carolinas

Whew. I don't know about y'all but I am exhausted from this weekend!
The first weekend of April {what?!} has come and gone and it was filled to the brim with family, friends, and a lot of travel.

& you know, a surprise bridal shower at work. There will be more on that later but I'll leave you with this gem for now:

We kicked things off Friday afternoon with a road trip up to Charlotte for a 5K for our friend Parker. My parents and I drove up Friday so that we wouldn't have to make some ridiculously early start from Columbia on Saturday morning.

Our hotel welcomed us with bell hops and champagne. My kind of hotel y'all, my kind of hotel. We had dinner at Cowbell Burger & Whiskey Bar. It was absolutely delicious!

From there, we took an Uber over to Wooden Robot Brewery to see a friend and to check it out. This brewery didn't open until after I had moved away from Charlotte so I hadn't had the chance to go there. I can't say that it's my favorite brewery in Charlotte, but it wasn't half bad!

Saturday morning was RACE DAY! The day we'd all be waiting for over the last few months. I'll have a lot more on this tomorrow, but here's a few pictures from the race.

We thoroughly enjoyed it and know that we'll be back next year!

Then it was time to pack it up and head east across the state to the coast. My fiancé's grandmother had passed away during the week and so my parents and I drove to her hometown to say goodbye with his family. They weren't the circumstances that you ever want to encounter, but it was extremely nice to get to spend some time with his extended family that we don't get to see often.

On Sunday, we got back on the road to Columbia where we had a busy, busy day. We checked out the Fireflies fan fest in the brand new stadium {more on that later this week, too!}, drove around some of our favorite neighborhoods looking for houses, grabbed a drink at River Rat Brewery, and then had an early dinner at Old Chicago.

{just fyi - the make your own mac & cheese with aged white cheddar cheese, grilled chicken, bacon, and tomatoes? SO GOOD}

Y'all, I am so glad it's Monday. Time to slow down a little bit! Well, at least until Friday when I hit the road again for the weekend ;)

  11. I am so jealous you took in a baseball game. I am desperate to go to a game. I need to go soon or I will go stir crazy. And anytime I am given champagne it is a good day. Smart hotel :) http://mymonochromaticlife.com

  12. I was with my family this past weekend for the same reason - a death of a loved one. Like you said, such sad circumstances, but so nice to be with everyone.
