Leave me alone, I'm reading!

Confession: when I start reading a new book, I don't put the book down until it's done. It's even worse when it's a series because I'll try to read the entire series before getting back to the real world. That doesn't work so well when you've got a job to get to five days a week that you can't just blow off because you're in the middle of a great book.

By the time vacation time comes around, I have a list of books that I've been meaning to read but have been putting off until I have enough uninterrupted time to do it. Vacation time starts in approximately 7 days so I'm working on the list of books I need to check out from the library/download on my Kindle to read.

Here's what's on my list this summer:

Oops. Might have started reading this on the beach on Sunday... then read it in the car... then read it during the USA/Portugal World Cup game... so go ahead and cross this one off the list!

The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty

The Vacationers by Emma Straub

All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner

The Summer Girls by Mary Alice Monroe
{& depending on how good this one is, potentially The Summer Wind}

The Antelope in the Living Room by Melanie Shankle
The name of this one caught my attention, but seems interesting enough to actually read.

Do y'all have any suggestions for what I should pick up before heading down to the beach next week?

  1. Just curious, did you ever read the two books JK Rowling wrote post-Harry world? It took me forever to find time but I've just finished the mystery novel she wrote under her pen name a few weeks ago, not bad at all!

  2. I could have written this post, I'm the exact same way. I hate going to the beach with a good book and someone keeps trying to talk to you. Let me read! ;) I read the Husband's Secret and thought it was good and loved The Antelope in the Living Room. I'm a sucker for anything by Mary Kay Andrews.

  9. I'm so with you! I am pretty sure my husband was convinced I forgot all about him for three days straight last week while I finished "Same Kind of Different as Me" in every possible spare moment I had. Now that you've finished The One & Only, hopefully you will link up with us in July for our summer book club :) I picked up my copy earlier this week and can't wait to dive in this weekend. I need to add some of these others on your list to my list as well. P.S. - The Antelope in the Living Room is a really good read!
