The Art of the Low Country Boil

Nothing says summertime to me like a good Low Country Boil. It's one of the best things to eat after a long day out in the sun on the lake or at the beach. It's even better when you have a big group of people to feed because you can easily make a huge pot {or 2!} of it.

We've made it on a tiny stove in a condo in Florida on vacation {& used crab legs instead of shrimp}

We've made it at the beach multiple times in a massive pot outside.

We've had it at the Riverbanks Zoofari.

We've even had it at a wedding!

There's just something about a Low Country Boil that says summertime, good food, and great company to enjoy it with.

We probably won't be making it this Saturday for the 4th, but believe me, it would make an excellent dinner on Saturday! Instead, we're doing something a little quicker like hambugers and hotdogs. Don't worry - I've put in my request to have this at the beach sometime in the very near future!

There are dozens of recipes out there to use and to be honest, I have no idea what we do other than drop a bunch of stuff in a pot and use Old Bay Seasoning. Descriptive and helpful, right? I just usually try to sneak in more potatoes than necessary since they're my favorite part and lay out the paper bags/newspapers for it all to be spread out on once it has been cooked.

Here's a couple of people who know more about what they're doing than me:
