Weekending for the 4th

Want to know how you round out an excellent three day holiday weekend?

With another two days of vacation from work!

Helloooo mini-beach vacation!

If you follow along on insta, you have a pretty good idea of how the last few days have been around here. There's been a lot of beaching, some trips up to the Ryder Cup Bar, a goodbye to a truly fantastic pup, and some epic summer thunderstorms.

Ready for the photo dump?

Laurel & Steven have been to our beach house before, and we told them after their last trip that they were not allowed to bring anything to any other trips after they loaded us up with so many fun beach things. So they decided to bring beach things for them for us to use until they visit again.

Beach Day #1

We didn't believe the weatherman. Or the radar. Or the Thunderstorm Warnings. Then these clouds showed up and there was a massive sprint back to the house.

After the storm passed, I took Laurel & Steven up to the Ryder Cup Bar for the experience. As per usual, the place was filled with cute little kids dressed better than us and lots of family photo ops.

Being barefoot on the grass is kind of necessary.

Add two more to the list of lagoon gator stalkers.

Dinner: pimento cheese burger with grilled zucchini fries and tater tots!

Beach Day #2:

Ryder Cup Bar Evening #2:

Could my brother and I be any different? I don't think so.

There was a pretty decent rainstorm right around dinner and fireworks time on the 4th. We {ok, just me} assumed that they would hold off on the fireworks until the rain cleared. Nope. We were caught off guard and had to run down to the beach to catch them.

Sunday was all about a late, lazy breakfast of homemade biscuits, bacon, grits, and scrambled eggs before walking down for another couple of hours at the beach. Patrick, Laurel, and Steven all left to get back to the real world while I continued on Island Time.

We finished up the day with this recipe from Meghan at Champagne & Suburbs. It was easy and so good!

I hope that everyone had a great long 4th of July Weekend! I'm headed back down to the beach to enjoy a good nap and some more HP5. Adios!
