Five on Friday

You know it's going to be a good week when it starts out with Clemson winning their first National Championship since '81. I mean... how do you top that??

It's been Solid Orange Week all week around here. Orange outfits all day, every day. I've been tuned into the College Football satellite radio station every time that I get into my car because I will never get tired of hearing the play call for that last touchdown. My wallet might be a little lighter after scouring around for the best National Championship gear to purchase. Some people feel like college football season is over. To me, it feels like it has just started!

Linking up for another Five on Friday with April.

This feeling of being the 2016 CFP National Champion will never, never get old.

I'm already exhausted thinking about this weekend:

1 afternoon lakeside wedding
1 evening wedding + wedding reception
1 baby shower

... all within 24 hours.

Girls' Nights need to happen way more often in my life.

Especially when they involve going out on Main Street to Lula Drake for wine and down the street to Cantina 76 for dinner.

Patrick and I have a new best friend. Her name is Alexa.

Patrick received an Amazon Echo Dot + the Philips Hue Starter Kit for part of his Christmas present this year. He had it set up and running as soon as we got back from our Christmas travels and y'all, we are hooked. I can't decide what we like the most about it but the ability to turn the lights in our house on and off just by asking Alexa to do so is probably our favorite.

Way more awesome than I anticipated it to be. Like... way, way, way more awesome. So far, we have six lights and two dots set up but I have a feeling that 2017 will be spent updating more light bulbs around our house, investing in a wifi thermostat, and finding more ways to incorporate Alexa in our home.

I think that I'm way late to the game on this one, but the Apothic Red Blend wine?

So. Good. I wasn't a red wine fan until about a year ago, so you can blame that for the reason why I'm just now getting on board with this one. Patrick's mom and sister got us started on it when they both brought over a bottle when we had them over for dinner a couple weeks ago. We've been hooked ever since.

I'm also a tiny bit hooked on this wine cart, festive lights, and fun wine glasses that I've received as gifts over the years.

  1. My husband and I are obsessed with the Hue lights and Alexa! Who knew light bulbs could be so expensive?! But they really are cool! You should try the Apothic Crush and 14 hands red blends. They are delicious!

  2. We received two Echo dot's for Christmas and my husband and I are obsessed as well!!! We have one upstairs and one downstairs and use them everyday. Alexa is our girl lol. Also, wifi thermostats are the way to go! We have ours set on a schedule for every day of the week + a weekend schedule, and if we get so many miles away from the house then it goes into 'out of town' settings. It's the best! Woo hoo for your Tigers winning, that was a great game and I was happy to see Alabama loose lol!

  5. I had a Girl's Night this week, too! Except when you're in your thirties with kids, it's meeting up for breakfast while everyone's in school instead of wine tasting in the evening, but whatevs ;) We got an Echo for Christmas but haven't really used it yet!! We'll have to play around this weekend! Darling wine cart and of course, congrats again to your Tigers!

  13. That's awesome you guys are finding cool uses for your Alexa! We have a Google Home, pretttty sure we only have it because Ben wanted a toy, and we basically only use it to ask it the weather or to set a timer, lol. Oh and I love Apothic Red!
