The Weekend of All the Cold

Winter storms in South Carolina are always such a tease.

They never really pan out to be what the weatherman on TV gets your hopes up for. Or, at least based on my experience, they never do. Such was the case this weekend. They were forecasting up to 2" of snow on Saturday and what did we get?

... really, really, really cold rain. And some flurries that didn't stick to anything. There was also a quick two minute fire in our fireplace before we decided that we might want to get it checked out/cleaned.

So what's a girl to do when her weekend trip to Kiawah gets cancelled at the last minute and the weather is absolutely awful in Columbia?

Play photographer assistant for the day!

My wedding photographer {Jessica Roberts} needed an assistant to help with a wedding she was shooting in town and since I had no big plans for the weekend, I signed right up for that. It ended up being a lot of fun! Insanely cold, but fun. It was also pretty interesting to see everything from the photographer's point of view without being the one taking the pictures or the one being photographed.

Most of Sunday was spent celebrating my mom for her birthday.

{couldn't pass up a chance to post a wedding picture, now could I?}

Naturally, that meant we went shopping and while I didn't buy anything during the big Lilly sale online last week, I did score this dress for 65% off at Belk.

There was also an excellent dinner at my mom's favorite restaurant, Alodia's. It's quickly becoming our favorite place to go, too. The food there is so good and while we never need an excuse to split a bottle of wine at dinner, birthday celebrations was a pretty good one.

But most importantly... guess what today is?

It's the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP & Clemson is playing in it at 8pm tonight. I cannot wait to see Clemson take on Alabama for the second year in a row. It will be the very last time that we see Deshaun Watson play for the Tigers and regardless of the outcome, it'll be bittersweet for that reason alone.

GO TIGERS! BEAT BAMA!

  2. Ugh I hate how dramatic weather people can be! It's always predicted to be so much worse than it actually is. How fun that you got to be a photographer's assistant this weekend? I went over to Tampa to partake in the festivities and I have to say, your Tigers have been well represented in town! Good luck tonight!
