90 Birthday Wishes

Y'all, my grandmother is 90.

& I'll tell you what: I can't keep up with her.

She's more active and more social than I am. She has a better social calendar than I do. You can't slow her down for anything.
Naturally, we had to have a birthday party for her.

We partied down in the church fellowship hall of my grandmother's church.
It's also the fellowship hall of the church that my brother and I grew up in. If you knew us back then, this picture should make you cringe {or if you're my mother, make your heart stop}

My mom acted as party planner/florist extraordinaire for this job. My only contributions to this party were designing the invitations, saving the day with the envelopes, and providing one chalkboard easel for decoration. The rest was all her {& my dad}!

My personal favorite part of the whole party was the photo table above. Dozens of pictures of my grandmother back in the 1930s & 40s, her wedding day, and of my mom/uncles when they were little.

My grandmother's favorite part might have been this signed picture from Dabo. My uncle sent him a birthday invitation and a request for a signed photo. He delivered!

So many people at this party kept coming up to me and saying "Oh, I'm sure you don't remember me but I remember when you were this tall..."

My reply?

"Yeah,  yeah, that's great, have you met my fiancé? He's the one over there in the light blue shirt purposely avoiding looking over here because he knows I'm talking about him. Again."

Overall, it was the perfect party & the best way to celebrate my grandmother turning 90.
