10 Things I'm Excited About this Holiday Season

Ok, ok, I might be getting a little bit excited over here about the upcoming holidays. Especially since I just realized that Thanksgiving is NEXT week. Did Thanksgiving sneak up on anyone else or was it just me?

& Christmas? Yeah. That's in 39 days.

Panicking yet about the Christmas shopping that you still have left to do between now & then? I haven't even started...

Anyway, here are the 10 things that I'm most excited about this holiday season:

10. Hanging up our stockings over our fireplace
My stockings have always been hung on a bookshelf but this year we have a mantle to hang them from! Way more excited about this than I should be. My mom has also ordered some new stockings this year now that we've added a couple of people to the family - can't wait to see SIX stockings hanging across their fireplace!

9. Baking sugar cookies
I always love baking sugar cookies at Christmas but this year I get to do it with my new KitchenAid mixer {!!}

8. Lights at the Zoo
Riverbanks Zoo, Christmas lights... what more could a girl ask for?

7. ... actually, all the lights
I don't know what it is about Christmas lights but I love seeing them all.

6. Thanksgiving!
Because we can't forget Thanksgiving. Especially since Patrick and I are hosting it at our house this year for the very first time.

5. A little Christmas cheer in our mailbox everyday
Christmas cards might be my favorite pieces of mail to receive from our friends and I love displaying them around our house throughout December.

4. Asheville

Patrick unknowingly started a little Christmas tradition two years ago. And then we continued it with his family last year. Fingers crossed that we can squeeze in a trip up to the North Carolina mountains for a little getaway before Christmas.

3. Starting new traditions
First married Christmas = new traditions. We're sending out Christmas cards for the very first time this year, we're hunting down our first Christmas tree together, etc. I'm sure we'll find a few things this holiday season that we'll want to continue in the years to come.

2. Family Time
I've got a four day weekend for Christmas - perfect for spending plenty of time with both sides of our family {including my favorite sister-in-law who will be in town from London}

1. Going to the Christmas tree farm to find the perfect tree to put up in our first house
I had a cute little fake Christmas tree for the first six years after graduating college when I lived on my own but now? Now I get a real tree. We'll have a real tree in one room and my cute little fake one in another {because no, you can't ever have too many Christmas trees}

What are y'all looking forward to this holiday season??

  3. AH I love all of these!! Especially your Asheville trip. We started that same tradition of going to the Biltmore at Christmas the year we got engaged. I had never been before and now it's a yearly tradition. We even usually take a day off work to do it so it's not as crowded!
