A Southern Twenty... Six?

Rewind 11 months ago to last August when I decided that I finally wanted to take the plunge and start a blog. The only person I told {at first} was one of my oldest & best friends, Becky.

Becky's first two questions were:
What are you going to blog about?
What are you going to call your blog?

Understandable. Two things you definitely need to have nailed down before you can actually start blogging.

Well... I didn't know for sure what I wanted to blog about but I knew there would be football things, recipes, alligators {um, didn't realize just how much I'd post about alligators back then...}, Charlotte things, traveling, photographyrunning, restaurant reviews, new beers/breweries, etc. It would be a little bit of everything except for DIY. I'm terrible at DIY.

The first thing that popped in my head was "A Southern Twenty-Five". It was the perfect name because I was 25, lived in the South, and would be blogging about all things that relate to being a 25 and living in the Carolinas.

So the name stuck.

Couldn't get it out of my head.

I ran the idea by Becky and she loved it as much as I did. We debated about the hyphen in twenty-five {yes in the name, no in the web address} and it was decided. I created my blog & off we went!

If you aren't currently a blogger and you're thinking about blogging... here's my one piece of advice to you:

Don't include your age in your blog. Because at most, it's only going to be a relevant blog name for a year. Also, everyone is going to ask you about it.

Even though I'll be turning 26 this month {yay, birthday month!!!}, this blog is going to stay A Southern Twenty-Five.

Why?

... because women stop aging at 25.
.... because being 25 was awesome.
.... because I keep typing in "beach" instead of "because" {vacation mode, much?}
... because I don't want to deal with changing the name of my blog.
... because I'm kind of used to it being called A Southern Twenty-Five and I still like the name.

Here's to A Southern Twenty-Five living on, even though I'll be 26 in a week. Cheers!

  4. It's part of our DNA to lie about our age, we can just keep celebrating your 25th birthday over and over again!
