Five on Friday

Whew. It's finally Friday.

Labor Day Weekend and this week kicked my butt. You would think you'd be 100% caught up after a long, restful weekend at home... um, no, not quite. It's taken me all week to feel like I'm back in sync with things and now we're on to another weekend. But it's a good weekend that I've been looking forward to for a few weeks!

There's a quick little road trip up to Clemson for some morning tailgating and watching the Tigers in the first home game of the year against Troy. Then there's a Maroon 5 concert. There's also a little side trip over to the zoo with a friend visiting for the weekend. Because no trip to Columbia is complete without a trip to the zoo.

So let's get to it today - here's my Friday Five for the week with April.

Happy 91st birthday to my grandmother!

Any excuse to post another wedding picture, right? Right. She turned 91 years old yesterday and is still as sassy and spunky as ever.

One of our very favorite wedding gifts was an empty beer bottle.

Why? Because with the beer bottle came a note that said there were two cases of custom brewed wheat beer waiting for us when we got back from our honeymoon. The beer was dropped off at our house last week and y'all, it is delicious. I cracked open one last night to watch the Panthers game {... we won't talk about that}. While we loved receiving gifts off of our registry, non-registry gifts like this were pretty fun to receive too.

It doesn't matter how much running I did last year or how many times I broke my 5K PR in the spring, the fall always, always, always looks something like this for me:

Slow & steady battles just to get in a 2 and a 2.5 mile run in outside. Personally, I'd like to blame the heat and the humidity and the hills but it probably has something to do with not running for 3 months. Maybe.

Somehow, this will turn into 13.1 miles in December...

Did you know that September is #ChildhoodCancerAwareness month? You probably didn't. I certainly didn't until recently & I didn't know much about childhood cancer until the son & nephew of some friends of ours was diagnosed late last year.

Many of you have asked about the blue bracelet that I wear every day. It's for this guy right here {& all of his family!}:

He had a wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation this summer to be a Carolina Panther for a day and then last Thursday night, he got to hang out with the team again when he got to be a honorary team captain for the team in their final preseason game. How cool is that?

Clemson, I am coming for you!

I am beyond ready to wander around downtown at 8:30 in the morning, to catch up with old friends, to do a little morning tailgating, and most importantly... to see my Tigers in action. Clemson has played their last 5 games {dating back to the USC game Thanksgiving weekend} away from home and it will be so nice to see them back in Death Valley.

Just kidding on the 5 part... we have a #6 this week!

I know quite a few people who are exploring around Europe this week {specifically Scotland and Ireland} and I'm busy living vicariously through them. This was the first picture that I received from the trip and y'all, I want to go to Scotland. And Ireland. Who's coming with me??

Happy Friday! Hope y'all have a great weekend!
