Pre-Governor's Village 5K

Oh hey, another weekend, another 5K to run in!

& this one is with a few of the crazy people who convinced me to start running in the first place. I'll be running with a group of people from work, some of the very same ones who convinced me to sign up for my first 5K almost two years ago.

Can you believe that I've run TWENTY races in the last two years? Um, I still can't and I'm the one doing all the running over here.

Have no fear though, I'm still running to T Swift. I know I said that I had come up with a new playlist to run to for my last race that didn't consist of only 1989... well, I did, but I certainly didn't run to it. T Swift and I have been going strong for almost six months now. Why quit a good thing?

I switched up my running a little bit since the last race and incorporated some HIIT treadmill runs into my workouts:
2 minutes at a race pace (8:45/mile)
1 minute at a long distance run pace (10:00/mile)
x9
and then 2 minutes at a sprint (8:15/mile)

All of that gets me 3.1 in about 29 minutes and no cramping. Yay!

I've got the perfect post-race day planned after the 5K Saturday morning: nap, breweries, and baseball.

Anyway, maybe this race will finally be the one where I finish in under 29 minutes. A girl can hope, right?

  7. 20 races!!!!!! That's awesome. I did a 5K once but never got past the hate/hate relationship with running. I really want to get back into it one day. Love me some T Swift!
