A Southern Twenty-Five on Friday!

Another week gone, another Friday, and another weekend trip! Surprise, it’s not Kiawah! This weekend I’m heading back to Charlotte to finish packing up the remainder of my apartment and to catch up with a few friends while I’m there. Hopefully the drive out of Charlotte is a little easier to handle this time around than it was three weeks ago ;)

Linking up for another Five on Friday with April.

I think that my favorite view of Columbia is the view from the top of the BB&T building downtown. You can see all around Columbia and on a clear day, you can even see Lake Murray.

On Tuesday, we got to watch the storms roll in from up there. It was pretty cool to see where the different rainbands were and to watch the rain progress from West Columbia to Lexington to Irmo.

One of the many reasons I moved back home:

Nope, not Doc’s BBQ but my lunch date at Doc’s! My dad & I went to get lunch this week and he introduced me to this delicious buffet style BBQ joint. I’ll be back there for lunch again soon! I always forget just how well my dad knows Columbia because we took part of my lunch hour to drive around and he pointed out other places I needed to go for lunch sometime.

On Wednesday, I celebrated National Running Day by meeting up with some friends and other runners at a local run shop {Fleet Feet} and hitting the road for a 3 mile run. It was 78 degrees and a little overcast… y’all, still way too hot for me! Add to that humidity and hills? Oh boy.

We had some fun afterwards with pictures, pizza, and {the most drawn out ever} raffle.

It was the first Thursday of the month this week, and in Columbia that means it’s time for First Thursday on Main.

... or a quick stop by Hand Picked, a drink at Craft & Draft, and then a visit to main street for a drink. And a waffle sandwich. Ok, and a hot dog. Totally worth it!

Guess what is exactly 3 months from today?

You know it.

91 days to go!

Hope y’all have a great weekend!

  1. I think I was in that BB&T building once. The view was lovely. Columbia has some bad spots, but a lot of nice areas.

  6. I used to have a leads group breakfast once a week at the Capital City Club and I loved watching the sunrise from that view. Oh the catfish bites at Doc's are amazing! We had them at our wedding and people went nuts for them.
