A Southern Twenty-Five on Friday!

Friiiiiiday!

At the rate Monday & Tuesday were going this week, I wasn't sure that I was actually going to make it to Friday, but hello, it's here!

Linking up again for a little Five on Friday action.

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Confession: I turn off all the lights in my apartment a lot during the month of December. I love to see the lights on my balcony shining through the window and my Christmas tree twinkling in my living room. Lights are hands down my favorite Christmas decorations, followed closely by Christmas tree ornaments. Here are my favorites in no particular order...

You knew that I was going to start with a Clemson ornament, right? My little football playing tiger was a gift from Patrick back in 2009. His family had a tradition of giving ornaments every year and he decided to start the same tradition with me, four years ago.

A month after graduating from Clemson, I was lucky enough to go to Europe for 12 days with a bunch of Lutherans. We started in Germany, wound our way down to Austria, and eventually into Italy. One of our stops was to Oberndorf, Austria, which is home to Silent Night {Stille Nacht} where I picked up this one. I am reminded of that trip and the amazing group of people we traveled with every time that I look at it.

Most people have a star or an angel or a big bow on the very tip top of their tree. Nope. Not me. I have a dove.

My best friend, Liza, loved when I joined a sorority because it meant that she got to share a ton of sorority things with me {even though we were not in the same one}. She sent me this dove the year that I was initiated into Sigma Kappa and it's been at the top of my tree every Christmas since. Mainly because I don't have anything else to put at the top of my tree and mainly because it's the prettiest thing to stick up there.

At one point in my life, I lived in Winston Salem, and fell in love with a store called Salem Creek. That might be due to the fact that my mom took me there all the time and when I was little, it was a fun place to explore. The two summers that I interned in Winston & the first two years that I lived in Charlotte, my mom and I would venture up to Salem Creek for their annual Christmas in July sale. I think we were going to make a tradition out of buying an ornament for each other every year but we haven't been back so...

This is the newest ornament on my tree, given to me by Mrs. Merritt last Christmas, is front and center this year. It's cute and a good reminder that Christmas has always been about more than Christmas trees, ornaments, and the presents we give one another.

{Don't worry - I'm not that ahead of the game. This is a picture of my tree last year!}

Happy Friday! Only two more until Christmas :)

  3. You have to start with the favorite team ornament first! That should be a rule every year! :)
